Hospital: PORTER ADVENTIST HOSPITAL

Schedule: Part Time

Shift: Days

PURPOSE

Operates a switchboard or telephone console to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls. Knowledge of commonly used terminology, concepts, practices, and procedures within the hospital. Monitors and initiates protocols for life safety alarms. Follows pre-established guidelines to perform job functions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

MINIMUM EDUCATION / CREDENTIALS / LICENSE REQUIRED:

High school graduate or equivalent.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

1-3 years previous high volume telephone experience. 1-3 years previous customer service experience

Process

* Demonstrates the appropriate greeting when answering the telephone identifying the department and self to internal customers and correctly identifying facility name to external customers.

* Over head paging including all emergency over head paging according to proper procedure.

* Demonstrates that you pleasantly answer and accurately transfer all calls in a timely and confidential manner

* Consistently monitors and timely and accurately responds to all alarms by following proper procedures

* Implementing emergency procedures accurately and efficiently, documenting on an incident report all events that do not comply with the proper procedure.

* Demonstrate the ability to provide general information using available resources.

* Contribute to the accuracy of departmental directories and the on call resources.

Additional Phone Center

Responsibilities

* Alphabetizing incoming transcription reports in a timely and confidential manner

* Processing all medical records for physicians and delivering reports to physician offices in a confidential manner

* Other duties as assigned.

Organization and Prioritizing skills

* Utilizes all work time productively and efficiently without direct supervision.

* Contributes to the cohesiveness of the department by identifying problems, participating in their resolution

Demonstrates the ability to organize daily tasks and maintain priorities to fulfill department need while streamlining patient flow

Annual Spring Thaw

Attending annual Spring Thaw and testing on all required courses; including but not limited to: Fire, Electrical, Back Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control and T.B. Test, Integrity training.

Customer Service

Participate in educational in-services on customer service and SHARE updates and utilizing them on the job.

Telephone Skills

Participate in educational in-services on telephone skills and using them to enhance customer satisfaction on the job.

Training and Education Manual

Review and understand the education manual of current dept. policies and procedure assuring that all procedures can be followed accurately.
