About this job

Coordinates care of an assigned caseload of patients through collaboration with physicians, nursing staff ant other health professionals to facilitate efficient utilization of clinical resources, optimal clinical and continuing care as well as financial outcomes. Concurrent and retrospective clinical reviews of medical records to evaluate the appropriate utilization of services, facilitate optimal physician documentation and assignment of optimal DRG/coding assignment to reflect case mix index.

Education: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama.

Experience: At least 3 years of experience in clinical nursing. Previous experience in an acute care setting in Med/Surg or Critical Care preferred. Previous Case Management or Utilization experience preferred.

Skills: Must have clinical skills to perform review of resources. Must have good communication skills and work well with the other departments and outside agencies.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods, walk at least 2 hours per day, lift/carry 20 pounds, hear alarms and telephone rings, distinguish colors, perform repetitive tasks/motions, have good eye/hand/foot coordination, and have clear vision at 20 or more feet with vision corrective device.
