About this job
Performs a variety of cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures and special procedures or duties as assigned. May be assigned orientation and inservice education responsibilities. Carries out assigned duties and responsibilities according to policies and procedures approved by the Medical Director for Cardiopulmonary Services.
Minimum of an Associate of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Bachelor of Science preferred.
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiovascular Technologist by the National Board of Cardiovascular Technology; preferred; or one year experience performing echocardiographic or vascular studies.
Possess an advanced knowledge of cardiopulmonary physiology and other sciences related to cardiopulmonary diagnostics and be able to demonstrate these to others. Demonstrated ability to use tact and judgment when dealing with physicians, nurses, other hospital employees, patients and patients' families. Demonstrated verbal ability to explain various procedures being performed to patients and patients' families.
