POSITION SUMMARY :

Performs Radiation Therapy services on behalf of the Cancer Center to help achieve the goal of providing cost-effective, high quality radiation therapy according to the standards of Sutter Solano Medical Center, American College of Surgeons, JCAHO, and California Department of Health Services Code of Regulations. Interacts with patients, Cancer Service-Line Director, physicians, physicist, dosimetrist, nurses, front desk staff, and medical oncology department. in a positive service-oriented manner. Performs all treatment procedures in area of assignment, serving the entire population from birth to death.

An ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience and is knowledgeable of Varian's Aria software platform and Varian's Clinac treatment delivery technology. MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Graduate of accredited Radiation Therapy Program, or BS degree in health sciences field.

Certified and in compliance with ARRT required.

Current licensure with the State of California (CRT) required.

Current BLS CPR Certification required.

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist using Record & Verify system, Portal Imaging, and CT/Simulation.

New graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy program considered.

Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently pinpoint area for radiography, knowledge of Radiation Therapy equipment and testing.

Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiation therapy including equipment, body mechanics and patient movement.

Dynamic and motivating teaching style in individual and group teaching settings required.

Ability to accurately follow instructions and work professionally with or without supervision.

Excellent communication skills both orally and written to work effectively with patients, physicians and staff.

Ability to input computer data in an accurate and efficient manner.

Strong organizational skills. Familiarization with current theory and practice and new developments in Radiation Therapy.

Familiarization with state-of -the-art Radiation Therapy equipment and record & verify systems.

Physical Requirements (if applicable):

The incumbent must be knowledgeable in the use of body mechanics for safely moving and positioning patients.

Occasionally lift and position treatment blocks weighing up to 30 lbs over your head.

Visual acuity to observe patient skin markings.

Standing, walking, lifting and occasionally sitting during a typical shift.

Must be able to react and move quickly to assist a patient when they are in distress.

Stressful and emotional situations occur often and you must be able to address these situations in a calm manner.
