About this job

Provides Cardiovascular, Interventional Imaging, related non-vascular studies and patient care services at defined levels to patients. Position has a call requirement once fully trained.

Principal Accountabilities:

* Assesses and educates patients according to specific department protocols.

* Implements radiation protection and safety standards to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients.

* Maintains mandated continuing education requirements.

* May be required to train / precept students and new techs.

* Operates a variety of complex stationary and mobile diagnostic equipment.

* Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical exposure parameters accurately.

* Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice, and applicable state/federal regulations.

* Prepares for and assists the physician in a variety of vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures as well as other cardiac, invasive and CT guided procedures.

Qualifications:

* Completion of a formal two-year course in an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.

* Certified by the state of California in both Radiologic Technology and Fluoroscopy.

* Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

* BLS (AHA) certification

* Minimum 1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist.

* Must have experience in IR.

* Strong leadership, team work and interpersonal skills.

* Knowledge of PACs and EPIC including registration, scheduling, ordering, charging, and reports as required to carry out job assignment.

* Basic computer skills to include keyboarding and data entry skills to enter information into electronic health records.

Experience:

* Thorough understanding of cross sectional anatomy.

* Solid base of knowledge with computer workstations and advanced imaging techniques, to include 3-D angiography reconstruction.

* Required comprehensive angiography and/or cardiac cath lab and CT guided procedures experience as is normally obtained in approximately three years.

* Previous Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Catheterization experience preferred.

Knowledge:

* Substanial knowledge of cardiac cath procedures; operation and care of radiologic equipment and diagnostic imaging; electronic imaging and image transfer, storage and retrieval.

* Understands radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients.

* Able to recognize potential abnormalities and prioritize accordingly.

Skills:

* Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.

* Must be able to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in emergent situations.
