We are looking for someone who is available 5 days per week. Shifts will likely include some early mornings, later nights, weekends, and overnight shifts (must be flexible, schedules differ and there is no set schedule). We all work holidays as it is our busiest times.

Job Summary

We are hiring Dog Daycare Attendants for our cage-free dog daycare and boarding center. The Dog Daycare Attendant is responsible for the safety and well-being of the dogs as well as maintaining cleanliness of the facility.The job duties include supervising, bathing, feeding & cleaning up after free-roaming dogs of all breeds and sizes. Prior dog-related work experience is not necessary, but you must be comfortable handling all breeds of dogs. This position requires a confident person who is comfortable communicating with both coworkers and dogs! The job is very physical and fast paced, ideal for someone who likes to be constantly moving and on their feet. There is lifting and heavy cleaning involved in every shift. 

Essential Functions

  • Interacts with and supervises dogs in using appropriate techniques to ensure safe levels of play (all breeds and mixed breeds)
  • Constantly maintains visual observation of dogs at all times
  • Communicates effectively with other staff
  • Controls level of play by maintaining a "pack leader" presence
  • Uses proper dog handling techniques and dog introduction procedures
  • Identifies all dogs in daycare, if unable to, communicates with other staff for assistance
  • Ensures new dogs are carefully being introduced to the rest of the dogs, consults with seasoned staff or supervisor
  • Reports unusual behavior and injuries to the supervisor immediately
  • Ensures that all staff that relieve you for break or shift change know all dogs in group, the special needs dog status and any unusual behaviors or concerns you have been managing during your shift
  • Completes any required documentation
  • Scoops dog waste and cleans area where the "accident" happened
  • Ensures cleanliness of the facility by mopping, dusting, disinfecting, removing trash, etc.
  • Follows all cleaning guidelines and completes all cleaning duties
  • Greets customers in a friendly, outgoing manner
  • Answers phone calls in a timely and friendly manner
  • Utilizes the computer program to keep track of dog attendance

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

  • Able to handle pen/pencil and telephone receiver
  • Standing for most of the shift
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to handle dogs jumping, running, playing, etc.
  • Be physically able to assist dogs
  • Must be ok with dog smells

Required Qualifications

  • MUST LOVE DOGS and committed to caring for people's family dogs
  • High school graduate or GED preferred
  • Strong English written and communication skills
  • Previous work experience demonstrating dependability
  • Previous experience providing animal care (personal or job related)
  • Self motivated, hard-working, independent and team oriented worker
  • Proven ability to follow instructions and learn new things
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated flexibility and proven coping skills
  • Must have a flexible schedule, available on weekends, holidays, and AM/PM/NOC shifts (schedules are subject to change, no set schedules)
