About this job

As a member of the Division of Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics focused on sickle cell disease or hemostasis/thrombosis, you would be expected to:

* Demonstrate a pattern of excellence and ongoing contributions in clinical medicine, as well as teaching and research;

* Provide exemplary clinical service and assure that patients cared for by you receive only the highest quality care;

* Devote 50-100% effort to outpatient and inpatient clinical responsibilities, depending upon research interests and funding, divided among the Aflac Clinics and inpatient facilities at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. The location and ratio of inpatient to outpatient clinical work may be adjusted somewhat depending upon service needs.

* In collaboration with program leaders, contribute to and expand the clinical program and patient services in sickle cell disease or hemostasis/thrombosis.

* Play a role in the education and training program of the pediatric Hem/Onc/BMT Division, including access to and involvement with medical students, residents, fellows, and occasionally physicians in practice;

* Develop a record of research excellence and publications under the mentorship of senior Hematology faculty;

* Collaborate with other members of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University Department of Pediatrics, especially in the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, in building multidisciplinary clinical and research projects; and

* Participate in periodic reviews of your activities to be performed by Dr. Clinton Joiner, Director of the Hematology Program of the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.
