A Gust of Sun Winery and Vineyard, a well-established and highly regarded winery on the Niagara Wine Trail, is seeking a Tasting Room Manager to lead the retail and direct to consumer sales for the winery at their Spencerport tasting room. This individual must be passionate about wines and able to communicate this enthusiasm to staff and guests, while meeting sales goals and providing an environment of gracious hospitality. We are looking for a person who possesses a combination of a critical eye for detail and a genuine ability to connect with guests and staff. Position Summary This manager directly supervises the tasting room staff and all operations of the retail tasting room. The manager works directly with the owners to generate sales and grow the company with both on-premise and DTC sales. The winery is in a high traffic area affording great opportunities for growth. Responsibilities  

Sales and Customer Service

  • Oversee the development and implementation of the tasting room experience, with a focus on guests becoming repeat customers and club members.
  • Develop and implement additional guest experiences with the goal to educate, engage and excite.
  • Scheduling and executing onsite & off-site events

Management and Leadership

  • Work to ensure that all sales staff are properly trained on procedures including POS, signing up of wine club members and collecting customer information at the point of sale.
  • Train the staff to achieve daily sales goals and build customer loyalty.
  • Evaluate and train new hires and provide ongoing wine education for staff.
  • Nurture an atmosphere of teamwork and enthusiastic employee relations.

 

General

  • Maintain and manage accurate inventory levels.
  • Maintain tasting room facility, patio and grounds.
  • Fully support the winery's history, quality winemaking practices and role in the community and wine industry.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Supervisory experience, ideally in winery tasting room or hospitality position is a plus.
  • Strong leadership to engage and build a tasting room team.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new programs quickly.
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy environment
  • Direct Marketing and social media skills are also a plus.
  • TIPS training preferred

Expectations

  • The job schedule involves most weekends and some holiday hours.
  • This is a part-time position with a typical work schedule Thursday through Sunday.
  • Compensation is based on experience
  • The manager must be able to repeatedly lift 40 lbs.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid driver's license.
