About this job

Manage positive sales growth and all related sales activities of the assigned district. The expectations should be uniform with the goals that are outlined in our overall company objectives each year. Distributor Sales Representatives are the liaison between customers and the rest of the company. It is their responsibility to anticipate and communicate customer needs and issues with other departments. They must be responsive to customer's needs, detail oriented, and be goal and solution oriented.

PRIMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. Communicate to and work with the other departments as necessary to resolve unique customer issues/concerns.
  • Input orders and other information from customers via fax, phone, and computer or in person. Extracting information, such as, out of stock items, ETA of out of stock items, available substitutes, inventory levels, pricing, and product information.
  • Act as a liaison between the customers and purchasing in order to make sure new items get ordered, fill out special order forms, Special Orders are researched, Drop Ship orders are correctly billed, products have arrived on time to be delivered to customer, etc.
  • Become competent and confident in decision making on the spot. Especially able to decide when to accept product returns.
  • Communicate and work with the Customer Care Specialists to review daily shortages and actively working to find solutions for customers who are shorted (or will be shorted).
  • Notifies customers of new services and products appropriate to them and attempt to find new sales with established customers. Demonstrate knowledge of products, pricing and competition.
  • Communicates customer concerns and challenges to Purchasing and Transportation in order to find solutions
  • Visits customers as much as possible and makes responsible decisions about the frequency of visits, in order to obtain maximum volume and profit in all product categories.
  • Play a vital role in determining the expectations and performance of the district as well as being a source of input in regards to continually improving the overall performance.
  • Work with the accounts receivable department on a weekly basis in regards to the current A/R status within the district.
  • Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential, and price schedules, to accommodate goals of company.
  • Responsible for developing a business plan for the district, build and continuously re-evaluate district sales goals, and account for achieving sales and gross profit goals for the district.
  • Participate in marketing functions, sales meetings and other merchandising programs.

OTHER CONDITIONS:

  • Automobile travel within the geographic region for customer visits and field visits.
  • Available the last Saturday of each calendar quarter for physical inventory.

  • Ability to influence others and develop creative solutions.
  • Knowledge of the foodservice industry products, sales and sales techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal, persuasive skills, computer and analytical skills.
