Providence is calling a full time, day shift Nurse Navigator - Cancer Center at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA.
In this position you will:
* Accountable for coordinating the continuum of care for patients with cancer, including providing support for the patient during the decision making process after an abnormal mammography
* Scheduling patient consults with specialist and support services
* Providing patient and site-specific education
* Maintain appropriate communication with the medical, clinical and support staff as well as the patient.
* Work closely with surgeons, oncologists, and hospital departments to facilitate scheduling of diagnostic and treatment procedures, physician appointments, as well as supportive care.
* Responsible for ensuring quality care throughout the oncology-service line, developing cost-effective programs, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
* Maintain, develop and coordinate multidisciplinary prospective treatment conferences, whether as a complement to a clinic or a standalone collaborative forum.
* Demonstrate proficiency in delivering care to patients with cancer based on cancer-site and tumor grade, and participates in related continuing education. Report directly to the Manager of the Breast Health Center along with the Service Area Director's of Oncology and Women's Health.
* Collaborate with the various medical/surgical and support departments as they relate to the care of patients with cancer.
Required qualifications:
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing ( BSN )
* CA Licensed Registered Nurse
* Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support ( AHA-BLS ) for Healthcare Provider
* Five years oncology nursing experience
* Two years Women's Health experience ( breast health preferred )
* Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary care
Preferred qualifications:
* Master's degree
* Two years Gynecology (GYN) and Gastroenterology Laboratory (GI) experience
* Program development experience highly desirable
* Oncology Certified Nurse ( OCN ) Certification
* Tumor board review preparation experience
