BEHAVIORAL HEALTH MEDICAL BILLING AND CLAIMS SPECIALIST

An industry leading behavioral health and substance abuse treatment center is looking for an experienced behavioral health medical billing specialist to join our team. We are a true muti -disciplinary team comprised of physicians, ASAM certified psychiatrists, psychologists, addictions professional, nurses, and marriage - family therapists come together to offer a program of treatment that provides practical solutions to the very real problem of addiction and alcoholism. We are an AHCA licensed facility for all levels of psychiatric level of care.

JOB RESPONISIBILITIES

We are looking for a full time medical billing and claims specialist whose job responsibilities include accurate submission, tracking and posting of behavioral health and substance abuse medical claims. The individual will work with our EMR system to input, monitor and follow up on claim status. They must be highly proficient and accurate in performing patient insurance verifications. They will be required to perform and monitor the claim appeals process and provide proper medical documentation to support services rendered. They will assist in enhancing our billing process through continuing research and identification of new and existing billing codes and techniques. They will work closely with insurance companies to identify maximum reimbursement practices.

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 3 years experienced in Behavioral Health billing including UB and CMS 1500
• Knowledgeable of medical necessity criteria for behavioral health for residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient levels of care.
• Knowledge of continued stay criteria for levels of care
• Communicate with billing and UR team regarding authorizations and levels of care.
• Experience with insurance company chart review procedures and follow up.
• Responds to medical records requests in timely manner
• Work claims and denials to ensure maximum reimbursement.
• Must be proficient and accurate at insurance verifications.
• Knowledge of payer specific coding.
• Insurance contract negotiations a plus.
• Be organized, able to multitask with attention to detail and problem solving.
• Understanding of EMR systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
