ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Welcome customers by greeting them and assisting them at the point of sale by helping them select products, identifying prices of goods or services and tabulate amounts using cash registers, or optical price scanners.
  • Keep clientele informed by notifying them of preferred customer sales and future merchandise of potential interest.
  • Bag, box, wrap, or gift-wrap merchandise and if requested prepare packages for shipment.
  • Stock products in the store, mark prices on shelves and individual items; assist with inventory accounting as well as cleaning and tidying of the store area.
  • Consistently support the general direction, initiatives and specific final decision of the Management Team in all aspects of the business; use influence sensitively to garner cooperation of management, co-workers and direct reports.
  • Generate goodwill for the organization and its management among staff, customers, suppliers, referral sources, regulatory bodies, the general community and others pertinent to the business; demonstrate a strong commitment to client service and service excellence.
  • Direct customers by escorting them to racks and counters; suggesting items, advising customers by providing product information, and helping customers make selections by building customer confidence through offering suggestions and opinions.
  • Process payments by totaling purchases, receiving and disbursing cash, receipts; processing store or other debit/credit card transactions and/or validate checks with the use of electronic scanners, cash registers or related equipment. 
  • Process merchandise returns and exchanges according to company policy.
  • Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and ending of shifts and periodically throughout the shift to ensure the amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
  • Calculate total receipts received during a pre-determined time period and prepare appropriate reports.
  • Adhere to established safety standards and immediately report any unsafe activity to supervisory or management staff.
  • Work daily and effectively to balance stress of multiple projects, conflicting priorities, substantial workload, environmental ambiguity and changing plans through self-management and productive communication with the Management Team regarding needs for support.
  • Perform other duties as requested or required by management.
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position.
