MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Under supervision the Counselor will provide assessment and group counseling to an adult client population at an outpatient substance abuse treatment program.He/she will be responsible for facilitating task-oriented group counseling sessions that deal with early and late stage alcohol and substance abuse issues.

 JOB DUTIES:

 The Counselor provides alcohol and drug counseling services including: conducting and documenting screenings and assessments of new clients, conducting intakes and admissions of new clients, leading group counseling sessions, maintaining medical records and files, documenting group counseling progress notes, participating in clinical staff meetings and serving as a member of the treatment team, adhering to applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies governing alcohol and drug abuse services, and other duties as necessary.

 REQUIREMENTS:

 The Counselor will have an alcohol and drug trainee letter or certification from the State of Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists and a minimum of six months' work experience in the field of alcohol and drug counseling.
