About this job

Transitional Aide:210 days, 6.5 hours per day, 5 days a week.

Reporting to:Principal

 

 

Valley Collaborative is a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education approved public school entity. We provide high quality academic, therapeutic and vocational services to individuals referred by local school districts and social service agencies. We also provide ongoing professional development and training experiences for educators and educational agencies. Recognizing that the educational environment rapidly changes, Valley Collaborative creates, adapts, and provides flexible programming to address evolving needs. We provide an environment within which students and others can maximize educational and/or occupational skills. By sharing its resources with multiple school districts and social service agencies, its programs maintain superior quality and reasonable costs to those it serves, by meeting or exceeding state standards, and achieving economies of scale.

 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Have experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) implementation in the classroom
  • Experience working with students with PDD, Autism, special learning, emotional, and/or behavioral needs.
  • Ability to teach, mentor, coach, and advocate for students.
  • Flexibility to meet identified student and programmatic needs.
  • Assist teacher in delivery of the curriculum, lesson plans, and implementation of IEP goals and objectives.
  • Ensure safety of students in all environments.
  • Assist in facilitation of independence, social awareness, language, and appropriate behavior.
  • Responsible for other student concerns that arise, and communicate concerns to PM and/or teacher.
  • Understand and deliver appropriate behavioral plan for each student working collaboratively with the teachers and behaviorists.
  • Assist in collecting student data.
  • Assist students with school and classroom activities, e.g.: lunch, playground, bus load, personal care, toileting.
  • Collaborate with SLP's, OT's, PT's, BCBA's teachers and social workers
  • Participate in staff meetings and in-service training as requested.
  • All other duties as assigned.

     

     

    Physical Demands:

    *Constant standing or walking. 

    *Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

    *Bends, reaches, lifts, carries, twists, pushes, pulls, and handles equipment when performing duties. 

    *Able to reach and operate equipment and systems safely and effectively.

    Ability to understand and follow both written and oral instructions.Adaptability to perform routine, repetitive tasks within a specific period of time.Prioritizes work assignments to be completed within time requirements.

     

    Must demonstrate a positive and caring attitude toward students, clients, and staff.Must remain flexible and adaptable in order to meet department needs.
