POSITION SUMMARY

The Security Operations Center (SOC) Engineer will work with a team that thrives on innovation to identify and respond to the latest security attacks and handle projects including technical upgrades, countermeasure adaptations, and litigation support (e-Discovery). Core responsibilities encompass performing security monitoring, event analysis, investigation and constructing countermeasures for today's threats. There are also ample opportunities to be involved in new projects with new, innovative technology.

Fundamental Components:

The Security Engineer is a key member of the Security Operations Center team (SOC) during normal business hours and in an on-call rotation outside normal business hours. The successful candidate will have experience in cyber-security and have the ability to review and analyze intrusion detection system logs, security incident event management systems, network traffic and data from solutions such as anti-malware, advanced endpoint detection/prevention, firewalls, internet/email gateways and VPNs.

Engineers should have experience in packet analysis to identify anomalies in protocols and payloads as well as the desire to stay current with the latest attack vectors and security trends. Engineers are the escalation team for the Level 1 monitoring and are instrumental to the continuous improvement of the companys Security and Risk Posture. The SOC engineer handles events and incidents: discovery, triage, containment, recovery, and remediation plan coordination. The SOC engineer assists with evaluation and integration of new products and technologies, working with Senior and Advisor level security engineers.

The SOC engineer will serve as key program coordinators including providing services for non Global Security stakeholders such as Aetna Affiliates and subsidiaries, Infrastructure and Development for IT Operations and application incidents, Aetna Litigation projects for collection and processing of electronic stored information (eDiscovery) for pre-trial discovery, subpoenas, congressional inquiries and Freedom of Information Act requests.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

Process oriented and driven to find solutions. Willingness to learn and build relationships and synergies. Understands network security devices, protocols, routing, and services. Experience reviewing logs (server, web, network). Certifications are a plus. Must be able to meet tight deadlines and work in a forensically sound manner. Adhere to shift priorities and adapt schedules. Some travel.

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Information Technology/Security+ Certification - Computing Technology Industry Association (Comp TIA) is desired

Security/FBI InfrGard is desired

Information technology/GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC) - Global Information Assurance Certification is desired

Information technology/Network+ Certification - Computing Technology Industry Association (Comp TIA) is desired
