About this job

  The Human Resources Benefits Specialist is responsible to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to assist with the various aspects of administrating Wedgwood Christian Services employee benefit plans.  In addition, the benefits specialist works along side of the Human Resources Benefit Coordinator and provides occasional back-up for payroll.  
 

Summary of Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with the Administration of various employee benefit programs, health and dental insurance, life and disability, flexible spending, 403(b), pension retirement plan, voluntary benefits and all other employee benefits programs. Update and revise information for employees as needed.
  2. Provide benefit orientations and assist employees with the benefit enrollment process.
  3. Communicate regularly with benefit vendors concerning employee questions and concerns to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  4. Assist with maintaining the HRIS systems. 
  5. Assist /backup with processing the payroll.
  6. Review and prepare monthly statements/bills for agency benefit plans and process changes to employee benefit enrollment records as they occur,   assuring accuracy in benefit levels.
  7. Assist with completing benefit claim reports as necessary for the worker's compensation. Follow-up for employee injury care. Compile necessary reports for leadership and the Residential Risk Management Team.
  8. Process student loan deferment and cancelation forms.
  9. Work with agency auditors and lawyers to prepare and submit all 5500s, SPDs, Wrap Documents, and ACA documents/reports.
  10. Assist a variety of departments with reports and information needed from the HRIS software.
  11. Assist with Employee benefit or wellness events.
  12. Oversee the employee resignation process from the benefit side; assuring appropriate information is sent including exit and benefit information (i.e. COBRA and HIPAA).
  13. Prepare reports/spreadsheets to stay in compliance with all Federal and State regulations.
  14. Responsible for timely Quality Assurance compliance as related to employee's roles and functions.
  15. Provide continuous improvement in benefit systems/processes, through auditing and new system development.  Create flyers, posters, and write letters and other documents to further educate employees on benefits and other areas of human resources.
  16. Maintain close communication with members of the Human Resources Department, and other Wedgwood staff as it relates to work performed in the above listed areas.

Requirements: 

-High School Diploma required.  Bachelor's Degree preferred.
-A minimum of 1 year of experience in the area of employee benefits required.  Prior experience with an insurance company or broker preferred.
-Strong communication skills; verbal, phone, written, and active listening.
-Excellent time management and follow through a must.
-Must be organized and detail-oriented..
-Intermediate skills with Microsoft Excel and Word required.
-Professional demeanor with the ability to empathize with others.
-Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and employee privacy.
