We are announcing a rare employment opportunity to fill Patrol Officer vacancies. Under the direction of the Watch Commander, entry-level Patrol Officers receive close supervision of field training officers and command staff. Patrol Officers are provided specific work instructions and assignments by Supervising Officers, but typically operate with considerable independence in performing regularly assigned duties.

Essential Job Functions:  1) Patrols an assigned beat by vehicle and on foot.  2) Proactively searches for, observes, and addresses unwanted activity. 3) Responds to calls for service for a full range of security needs including but not limited to: reports of noise, parking violations, suspicious activity, reported crimes in progress, requests for vehicle jump starts and lockouts, and reports of other activity. 4) Responds to residential and commercial alarm activations. 5) Responds to requests for mutual aid from law enforcement and government agencies. 5) Drives a marked patrol vehicle, operates a two-way radio, cell phone, and Mobile Computer.  6) Writes and submits investigative security patrol reports and incident reports.  7) Notifies law enforcement officials of crimes in-progress or when an arrest has been made. 8) Intervenes in public offenses in accordance with training, licensing and policies and procedures.  9) Demonstrates unfaltering honesty, integrity, and a professional appearance.  10) Other duties as assigned including Dispatch duties.

All employees are hired at an entry-level position. No experience is required however previous patrol experience in a security or law enforcement field is desired. 

Licenses, Certificates, and other Requirements:

1) Possession of a valid California Driver License with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience. 2) Possession of a current California Guard Card, issued by the CA Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. 3) Successful completion of the BSIS 40 Hour Powers of Arrest course.  4) Ability to type a minimum of 25 words per minute.  5) Strong oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and correct sentence structure is essential. 6 Strong command presence and tactical communication skills. 7) Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS Office, databases, and the Internet.  8) No criminal record and the ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screening.  9) Proof of citizenship or the ability to remain and work in the United States. 10) Possession of a clean DMV record. Possession of a Driver License for 3 years. 11) Ability to stand, sit, and walk for long periods of time.

Successful completion of High School or equivalent. Candidates with an Associate's Degree are highly desired, and candidates with a Bachelor's Degree are preferred. Candidates with Bachelor's Degrees may have various organizational training requirements for promotion and wage incentive increases waived.

Optional and desired Licenses and Certificates: 1) Possession of a chemical agent certificate from an accredited CA BSIS training center or CA POST police academy. 2) Possession of a CA BSIS issued baton card.  3.) Possession of a CA BSIS issued exposed firearms card. 4) Successful completion of a CA POST PC 832 Arrest, Search & Seizure, and Firearms course. 5) Successful completion of a CA POST basic or reserve police academy.

Shift Schedule: Night Shift, 7pm-7am.  Public Safety Rotational Scheduling. Four 12 hour shifts / 3 days off, followed by three 12 hour shifts / 4 days off.  Officers receive a full month's wages for working 15 days per month. 

12-hour shifts result in 8 hours of regular wage and 4 hours of overtime accrued daily. As the regions largest patrol provider, overtime opportunities are plentiful.

Selection Process: Applications will be screened to assure that minimum qualifications are met. Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will then be referred to completion of the selection processes. Applicants with both mandatory and optional licenses will be given first priority of initial review. 

Selected applicants will be invited to an oral board interview which will also include a reporting writing examination to determine their ability to write quality patrol reports and successfully detail the events of an incident. 

Applicants who successfully pass the oral board interview and report writing examination will be offered the opportunity to participate in a ride-along with a Patrol Officer. 

Applicants will undergo a background investigation. Successful completion of the background investigation will progress the candidate to a drug screening examination. Successful passing of the drug screen and upon final approval from human resources the applicant will receive a conditional offer of employment. 

New Patrol Officers shall be required to successfully complete the Field Training program during their initial employment. New Patrol Officers must also complete the probationary period of employment.
