Citi Retail Services, a business unit within the Citi Cards division of Citigroup Inc., is seeking an experienced commercial credit risk manager for its commercial risk underwriting policy team. This individual is accountable for the risk policy and credit review on the Specialty Partner Group Commercial portfolios with the Citi Retail Services business based in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.

The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial lending with a variety of product types including unsecured credit, lines of credit, contingent and third-party lending. Their experience will have been in a fast paced environment where risk assessment and judgmental techniques are critical to their success. This individual will bring a strong analytical orientation, experience in broad-based risk issues and a familiarity with operations. This person will have a demonstrated record of performance including balancing risk reward with profitability in a fast-paced commercial environment complimented by overall business judgment.

Candidate will be responsible for:

Oversight and monitoring of a major merchant dealership relationship consisting of commercial contingent and third-party risk including interpreting and resolving potential policy issues with the relationship.

Apply an excellent working knowledge of commercial judgmental risk analytics which includes financial statements (liquidity, leverage, profitability and cash flow), commercial bureau and risk / mitigation analysis.

Serve as dealer risk contact between dealers and Citi to assist with transactional approval, policy development and credit issues.

Participate in commercial policy monitoring and decision quality reviews of judgmental credit decisions performed by various Operating units across the Partnership Group.

Provide feedback, training and development for all commercial judgmental underwriting units across the Partnership Group.

Manage risk levels for the entire credit spectrum across multiple products and retail formats consistent with overall business and financial objectives.

Monitor credit signing authority for credit analysts in operations to ensure credit decision quality is maintained.

Tracking and reporting of initiatives and reporting performance results, emerging trends and opportunities to senior management on a timely basis.

Research customer and/or management queries using risk systems and data

Support ad-hoc risk policy analysis and projects as required

Ensure regulatory compliance

Leadership Competencies

Excellent experience in direct judgmental commercial credit underwriting with a proven track record of complex processes and deliverables.

Excellent experience in contingent and third party credit underwriting.

Ability to negotiate and navigate highly sensitive situations with senior executives and VIP clients.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.

Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

Ability to interact successfully with business partners, operations, technology and finance teams

Strong planning, coordination and organization skills

Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional organization

Business and Technical Requirements

7 plus years experience in judgmental credit analysis and policy development, preferably on an unsecured card and/or contingent liability portfolio.

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business or Accounting or equivalent business experience. Masters preferred.

Excellent financial statement analysis skills, including understanding of GAAP standards and practice
