Job Description

SUMMARY: 

 Supervises and coordinates activities of 3-4 workers engaged in machining of parts and tooling for pharmaceutical Blow / Fill / Seal molding and packaging machinery. Utilize proficient knowledge and experience of MasterCam software for the purpose of CNC milling, and turning to produce high tolerance mold and tooling assemblies. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must be proficient an CNC programming using MasterCam software working from Solidworks and AutoCAD models, files, or drawings.
  • Directly supervise and manage mold and tooling manufacturing in a small but busy machine shop.
  • Verifies dimensions and alignment of mold assemblies as being produced.
  • Confers with engineers and production personnel to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Ability to handle multiple challenges simultaneously
  • Control material and or tooling orders to maintain shop supply and keep workflow efficient through shop.
  • Maintains company attendance standards
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

People Management:

  • Supervise a team of mold maintenance staff and/or other support staff.
  • Supervise, plan, and coordinate production.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  • Select new team members when necessary.
  • Set clear expectations and provide guidance to team members to facilitate achievement of Mold Shop Operations' and Company goals.
  • Review performance of team members.
  • Identify development needs and opportunities; provide training/coaching to team members as appropriate.
  • Delegate assignments to team members according to their roles, responsibilities and skill sets.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma minimum.
  • 8-10 years of CNC machinery and manual equipment machining experience acquired through a formal program or equivalent training and experience. 
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory or lead machinist experience, to include coordinating workflow and coaching employees.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ensures labor is utilized in the most efficient and effective manner with mold maintenance staff.
  • Ability to collaborate with various groups to include: engineering, quality, and purchasing in addition to vendors and customers to provide the highest quality product and customer satisfaction.
  • Actively pursues and suggests operational improvements to enhance quality, production, throughput and cost reduction.
  • Ability to lead, mentor change, and motivate workers to function in a positive work environment.
  • Provide leadership for employee through effective communications and or training.
  • Assist with employee evaluations and performance reviews
  • Develops training programs as required to improve employee technical skills.
  • Ability to forecast labor in order to maintain production and meet company objectives.
  • Champions safety and acts as a strong leader of working safely by adhering to all safety policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, up to 8 hours per day, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.The noise level in the machine shop work environment can be loud.
