About this job

The Payroll Processor proactively manages all aspects of Daily Time Cards and Payroll in coordination with the Accounting Administrator. Work performance requires accurate data entry skills and the ability to meet deadlines timely.The goal of the Payroll Processor is to work in a streamlined manor to produce an accurate bi-weekly payroll. 

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain employee/payroll records: New Hire entry, changes in pay and tax status, direct deposit, etc.
  • Processing of garnishments and wage levies
  • Process voluntary and involuntary terminations
  • Entry/audit of daily job cost time cards
  • Compute wage and overtime payments in accordance with current laws
  • Maintenance of Workers' Comp rates by class code
  • Balancing of earnings and deduction totals
  • Inspection of pay registers and standard reports to verify/correct any out-of-balance conditions
  • Issue reports/payments to internal and external third parties: AP, Job Cost, Accounting, tax agencies, garnishing agents, etc.
  • Respond timely to employee requests
  • Transfer accurate payroll information to "The Payroll People".This is the payroll service that will issue the checks, quarterly reports, W2's as required.
  • Various other clerical duties as time allows.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Business Administration/Finance required, Accounting Degree preferred
  • Three plus years in a Payroll Office performing all payroll functions; Three years'additional payroll office experience in lieu of Associate's degree
  • Excellent skills using MS Word, Excel, Access, and Internet Explorer
  • Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
  • Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure
