About this job

Job Summary: Perform different operations involved in repairing roads, bridges and culverts.

  1. Duties and Responsibilities
    1. Maintains acceptable attendance and punctuality as outlined in company attendance policy.
    2. Loads Fibrecrete material by lifting the block up approximately 4.5 feet placing it on the back of the truck bed for transportation or tearing block open and passing it up approximately 4.5 feet to viper machine
    3. Loads topping stones by lifting bags up approximately 4.5 feet placing them on the back of the truck bed.
    4. Assists in loading whatever tools and equipment are needed such as wheel barrels, shovels, brooms, signs, cones etc.
    5. Secures all materials loaded on vehicle to ensure they will not fall off while being transported.
    6.  Drives company vehicle when requested to job site or travels as a passenger if requested in company vehicle.
    7. Sets up traffic control by placing signs and cones in the appropriate area.
    8. Must constantly be aware of where you are on the job site because of the hazard of oncoming traffic.
    9. Performs flagging duties when job site requires.
    10. Operates heavy equipment at job site as needed such as jack hammer, road saw, milling machine etc. to prepare surface for filling material.
    11. Helps lift hot box off the back of the truck then fills it with hot material from Viper machine then pushes box over areas to be filled releasing material filling the prepared area.
    12. Distributes topping stones by hand over any area that has been filled and cleans up area with appropriate cleaning tools.
    13. Performs all operations required to clean bridge joints out and refill with material.
    14. Enters culverts/manholes/confined spaces to repair pipe joints with different materials including foam.
    15. Drills holes in slabs then pumps foam material with nozzles to raise slab.
    16. Cleans all equipment involved in pumping foam.
    17. Follows all safety and traffic laws keeping company vehicle neat and clean.
    18. Will not pose a direct threat to other employees.
    19. Performs other duties as directed by Crew Supervisor/Project Manager.

 

  1. Physical Requirements

Infrequently means (less than 1/3 of the work day)

Frequently means (1/3 to 2/3 of the work day)

Continuously means (Over 2/3 of the work day)

 

  1. Frequently must lift 5 to 50 pounds, infrequently 50 to 100 pounds.
  2. Infrequently must push hot box weighting up to 400 pounds on road surface including inclines.
  3. Continuously must stand performing duties.
  4. Frequently stoops, kneels and twist.
  5. Frequently must use feet to actuate pedals on equipment or vehicles
  6. Continuously must reach below shoulder height, infrequently at or above.
  7. Infrequently must exert strong grip in both hands operating jack hammer road saw, moderate grip frequently in handling tools and driving vehicles.
  8. Frequently must use good hand eye coordination in using hand tools and driving vehicles.

  1. Continuously must have good field of vision (peripheral) to know where you are standing on the job site.
  2. Continuously must use far vision (correctable to 20/40).
  3. Continuously must use highly accurate depth perception in judging distance from passing lane of traffic.
  4. Infrequently must use the ability to hear the spoken voice clearly (with or without hearing aid)
  5. Continuously must use the ability to hear warning beepers, horns or sirens over 70 decibels.
  6. Infrequently must use comprehensible speech.
  7. Infrequently exposed to vibration from jack hammer and road saw.
  8. Continuously exposed to road noise.
  9. Continuously exposed to outside environment hot and cold temperatures.
  10. Continuously must use the ability to work closely with others on a team.
  11. Continuously must have sustained concentration working in a safety sensitive situations concerning traffic at job site.

 

  1. Competencies Required
    1. Must have as a minimum a valid (active) Class C United States driver's license.
    2. Must be able to speak and understand English and possess high school level reading, writing, math skills.
    3. Must be able to pass all required safety training.

 

  1. Special Requirements
    1. Must have good motor vehicle driving record
    2. Must be flexible to work either night time or day time.
    3. Must be available to work and stay out of town for extended periods of time.
