We have a full-time opening for a Staff Accountant professional.

FuelMaster of America is seeking a professional with Accounting & Finance experience to assist in petroleum retail and wholesale business financials. FuelMaster is a gas station, convenience store, truck stop, petroleum retail and wholesale business.

Basic Function: The Staff Accountant person is responsible for the routine operations of accounts payables and receivables which include reconciling bank accounts and credit card statements. The Staff Accountant person also works with the owners, HR and store managers with budgets and account analysis. The Staff Accountant position creates financial transactions and creates financial reports from that information. The creation of financial transactions includes posting information to accounting journals or accounting software from such source documents as invoices to customers, cash receipts, and supplier invoices. The Staff Accountant person also reconciles accounts to ensure their accuracy.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Pay supplier invoices and bills in a timely manner and take account of all reasonable discounts on supplier invoices
  • Issue invoices to customers and ensure that receivables are collected promptly
  • Record cash receipts and make bank deposits in accounting system
  • Conduct a monthly reconciliation of every bank account
  • Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy
  • Provide information to the external accountant who creates the company's financial statements
  • Assemble information for external auditors for the annual audit
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested
  • Responsible for the review and payment of the monthly credit card statements
  • Obtains all supporting receipts and invoices for credit card purchases and other paid outs
  • Codes and inputs invoices into the accounting system (QuickBooks, Series 2K and FireStream Ascend) and cuts checks for payments
  • Works with vendors to sustain a good working relationship and uses all payment discounts whenever possible
  • Reconciles on a monthly basis: petty cash and store expenses and replenishes the funds on a timely basis
  • Works with store managers and HR to insure that all travel and expense reimbursement requests are authorized and conforms to FuelMaster policy
  • Take monthly store reports and enter journal entries for the following categories, i.e.: spoilage, store use merchandise, promotional items

 

Desired Qualifications: The Staff Accountant person candidate should have an Associate's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience, as well as knowledge of accounting and generally accepted accounting principles. Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of the QuickBooks, Series 2K and FireStream Ascend accounting software package. 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and task satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience with accounting system and preferably with handling multiple companies with intercompany transactions
  • Intermediate level knowledge of MS Outlook MS Excel; able to formulate simple equations and formulas.
  • Experience in retail environment accounting preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written and computer skills
  • Confidence working in a fast-paced environment
  • High-energy and ability to multi-task a must
  • Positive, friendly, easily-approachable attitude
  • highly organized and detail oriented
