Communities for a New California Education Fund (CNCEF) is seeking a smart, tenacious, and talented community organizer to work in the City of Fresno.Ideal candidates will have experience running local issue-organizing campaigns and will have 2+ years organizing experience in electoral, issue and/or legislative campaigns.The ideal candidate will also be well versed in utilizing software programs such as:Nationbuilder, PDI, VAN, Five9, and Stratasoft.The position reports directly to the CNCEF Regional Director and also works closely with the Executive Director.Comprehensive CNCEF specific volunteer recruitment/base-building training provided.

 

CNC Education Fund is seeking a community organizer to build a parent volunteer base in Fresno and implement an education campaign about the importance of investing in youth as a form of workforce development in our city.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Establish strong CNCEF volunteer base by implementing a neighbor-to-neighbor house-meeting model of volunteer recruitment and leadership development.
  • Support volunteer base to identify and prioritize issues of importance to their families.
  • Transform people to become leaders by connecting them with their power to make real and concrete improvements in their lives.
  • Implement CNCEF field and outreach strategies in identified communities; including grassroots advocacy actions, voter education, candidate forums, phone banking, and non-partisan GOTV (Get Out The Vote) neighborhood canvasses.
  • Build coalitions among allies and historically underrepresented constituencies to build broad regional support for CNCEF's prioritized issues of importance.
  • Generate local media coverage by organizing local actions, press conferences, and education forums.
  • Coordinate local and regional community and leader trainings.
  • Track and report campaign deliverables.

 

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Fluent bilingual (read, write and translate) English and Spanish and/or other languages a plus.
  • 2+ years of community organizing experience in electoral, issue and/or legislative campaigns.
  • Experience recruiting and motivating large numbers of volunteers for phone banking and door-to-door canvassing
    • Experience using Nationbuilder, PDI, Stratasoft, VAN Five9 or CallFire a significant plus.
  • Knowledge and expertise with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work under pressure and think quickly on their feet.
  • Ability to work independently as part of a geographically dispersed team.
  • Familiarity with and understanding of educational, environmental health and economic issues.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the assigned project region (infrequent overnight travel to Southern California and Bay Area)
