Position Overview

Provide personal care services, assistance, support and supervision to residents, through R.N. delegation.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Resident Care

  • Responsible for providing services to each resident according to the resident service plan.
  • Assist in updating each resident's service plan.
  • Make residents' beds daily.
  • Launder residents' clothing, linen and towels; fold and return to residents.
  • Serve meals and bus tables during mealtimes.
  • Assist with minor housekeeping of residents' apartments.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, eating, hygiene, and mobility.
  • Monitor health, safety and well-being of the residents.
  • Document information pertaining to changes in residents' functional status, personal needs, appointments, etc.
  • Report concerns about residents to supervisor and coworkers.
  • Maintain an accurate record of chargeable services and submit record to supervisor by the designated date each month.
  • Respond to resident emergencies; provide first-aid assistance and arrange for appropriate medical attention and/or follow up.

 

Activities and Resident Involvement 

  • Conduct activities as requested by Activity/Lifestyle Director.
  • Promote activities enthusiastically to pique residents' interest.
  • Invite and encourage all residents to participate in activities.
  • Assist residents to and from activities, as needed.
  • Chaperone activities outside the facility, when requested.
  • Maintain a safe, home-like, and pleasant environment for residents.
  • Practice safety in working around and with equipment, chemicals, tools and utensils.
  • Maintain a cheerful, positive, and upbeat demeanor at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident/staff information.
  • Treat each resident with dignity and respect. (Use resident's name when addressing them, not slang such as "honey" or "sweetie".)

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified Nurse's Aide Certification
  • At least one year experience as a CNA
  • Skills in nurturing and organization and interest in working with older adults
  • Maturity, friendliness, and enjoyment in working with people
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Great problem solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
