Job Summary:

Under the direction & supervision of the Recreation Program Supervisor. The Dance Program Coordinator will manage the day-to-day operations of the Roseville School of Dance, including supervision of dance instructors, organization, planning & administration of dance curriculum, serve as director for annual spring recital.

Scope of Responsibility:

This position is responsible for the development of the Roseville School of Dance curriculum; supervision of dance staff; organization, direction & administration of registrations, classes & annual spring recital. Administration responsibilities scheduled for up to 10 hours/week (including evenings & weekends base on need). Additional time scheduled for recital preparations & coordination. May include additional teaching time. Hourly wage $21-$26.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in supervising dance program
  • Monitor dance program quality by observing dance classes
  • Assist with & monitor payment plans within the program
  • Assist with Dance communications
  • Assist in creating marketing materials for the School of Dance
  • Assist in interviewing & hiring procedures for dance instructors
  • Plan dance staff schedule for each dance season & annual spring recital
  • Supervise & coach dance instructors
  • Schedule & plan private lessons
  • Create, organize & execute annual spring recital
  • Assist in ordering dance supplies & recital costumes/wear
  • Oversee picture session
  • Organize music for recital on CD & IPod format & coordinate all other necessary recital needs
  • Serve in a professional & courteous manner with the highest regard to the customer
  • Attend required staff meetings designated by Recreation Program Supervisor
  • Perform all job tasks within the rules & guidelines of the departments safety program
  • Work as a team player with co-workers & in conjunction with other programs
  • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned or apparent.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Comprehension of Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Lyrical & Hip Hop Dance techniques & styles
  • Ability to organize, delegate & evaluate dance programs
  • Ability to develop & administer a simple budget
  • Ability to relate to others in a professional manner
  • Practice the principles of exceptional customer service
  • Exhibit good safety awareness & judgement
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Preference given to candidates with a bachelor's degree in education, dance, youth services, recreation or working toward a degree in these areas.
  • At least 3 years' experience instructing dance programs as a lead instructor.
  • Ability to plan, organize & lead dance programs.
  • Ability to lead, guide & supervise dance instructors.
  • Ability to expand & improve the dance program.?

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

Roseville Parks and Recreation Dance Coordinator generally works indoors at various designated buildings. The position requires high attention to detail 50-75% of the time and moderate physical effort 25 % of the time.
