About this job
Hamilton-Madison House is seeking a part time psychiatrist to provide treatment to behavioral health patients on different health issues, performing evaluations, and formulating treatment plans, which include medication, prescription and psychiatric care.
Responsibilities :
- Gather and maintain clients' information and records, including social and medical history obtained from clients, relatives, and other service providers and professionals.
- Prescribe, diagnose, direct, and administer treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders for children and adults with mental illness and/or addictions.
- Review and evaluate treatment procedures with interdisciplinary clinical team to determined best practices and procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress.
- Provide intake and consultation to clients, as assigned.
- Maintain reports, administrative and clinical records according to agency policy.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Degree in Doctor of Medicine from accredited medical school
- Higher qualification in psychiatry from an accredited institution
- Appropriate medical licensure as required by NYS Office of Mental Health and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
- Bilingual English/Chinese and/or Mandarin required
- Experience treating Asian American patients
Key Competencies:
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal as well as written skills. *
- Knowledge of practices and principles of psychiatry and medicine
- Knowledge of current practices and other theories in the mental health field.
- Able to diagnose mental illness and treat them.
- Able to deal efficiently with emotionally disturbed adults and children.
- Able to prescribe appropriate medicines to treat psychological disorders.
- Ability to prepare diagnostic reports and review them.
- Demonstrated ability to reach productivity and quality assured goals as put forth by agency
Hours: 10 to 15 hours per week
