OVERVIEW: 
The Residential Counselor assists the Facility Manager with the daily oversight of operations of Unity Care Group's residential treatment program and staff. This role is responsible for assisting the Facility Manager with policy and procedure implementation, internal and external communications with staff and county partners, daily coordination and monitoring of services, tracking and/or completion of all mandatory reports, and partnering with the Compliance Department to assist with the evaluation of the residential program for continuous quality improvement. The scope of work is broad and comprehensive,and requires working in partnership and collaboration with a team of professionals as well as work independently to collect, analyze, interpret and report program results.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
1. Bachelor's Degree
2. Ability to thoroughly document, and in a timely manner, into Electronic Health Records for program-required documents
3. Must be a confidentand responsible role model with excellent judgment
4. Must able to work well independently in high stress environments
5. Must display a proven dedication to youth through leadership and/or mentoring experience

Preferred
1. Minimum of 2 years' experience working with at-risk youth or adolescent children in a residential setting preferred but not required
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
1. Monitor group home residents' general health and safety; knows where each resident is and with whom at all times. 
2. Teach residents socially acceptable habits of behavior and appearance and how to behave in public
3. Demonstrate professional boundaries and appropriate self-disclosure when interacting with residents
4. Based on training, implement appropriate authority and discipline to set limits for behavior and help each resident practice self-control
5. Participates in the implementation of treatment plans, crisis intervention plans, and safety plans as created by licensed clinicians
6. Maintain a daily log which monitors each resident's behavior and feelings as they are related to current situations in daily living as well as school information, medical visits, and incident reports.
7. Implement emergency procedures in the event of crisis situations - both behavioral and environmental.
8. Keeps record and receipts for expenditure and operates home within daily budget.
9. Follows daily living schedules for residents.Is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the structured program and ensures that proper food and rest are provided.
10. Coordinates and supervises educational and recreational programs.
11. Attend regular staff meeting.
12. Responsible for daily management of the group home to keep in ordinance with Community Care Licensing requirements: meal planning and preparation, keeping the house, yard and van clean and orderly, supervising chores that are the responsibility of the resident, and transportation of the resident.
13. Generates own billings from the delivery of services
14. Manages own documentation and prompt submittal of billing.
15. Other duties as assigned

6. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. 
7. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
8. The employee may be required to make and/or receive physical contact in the process of delivering First Aid/CPR or Handle with Care, or in training to those methods. 
9. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
10. Ability to get CPR and First Aid certificate within 30 days of start date, and maintain a current certificate
11. Must clear a Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background check including fingerprinting before start date and maintain clearance
12. Must clear a health screening, including TB before start date and maintain clearance
13. Must be at least 21 years of valid driver's license, clean driving record and maintain a clean driving record.
15. Meet and maintain the minimum age and able to work in a Community Care Licensed Facility
14. Must be able to drive, have a vehicle liability and property insurance limits (in order to be insured by our insurance carrier for transportation of residents)
