Position Title: AmeriCorps VISTA - Assistant Circles Site Coordinator
Circles Greater Pittsburgh is seeking VISTA workers for the July 2015?2016 program year who want to work to move families out of poverty in some of Allegheny County's most distressed communities in the Mon Valley. This is not about managing people in poverty, this is about the hard work of getting people out of poverty. Circles is a proven, nationally recognized model designed to help move people from poverty into self sufficiency. We are looking for a VISTA worker to be placed in the Mon Valley (the position is based in Turtle Creek) to help manage and facilitate these Circles Groups. Circles is a high-impact, complex intervention that requires patience, a love for seeing people succeed, and attention to detail.

Position Description - Assistant Circles Site Coordinator
The AmeriCorps VISTA will work directly with a Circles Site Coordinator in the Mon Valley sites of McKeesport and Turtle Creek. VISTAs will also be part of a larger support and learning network of Circles, all with the goal of moving families out of poverty.
Job Summary: Assistant Site Coordinator (VISTA)
The Assistant Site Coordinator will assist in the facilitation of a community-based Circles site. The Assistant will help to engage the community in convening the weekly Circles meetings. The Assistant Coordinator is also responsible for helping with recruitment, training, and retention of participants and volunteers.The coordinator will develop and execute fundraising events and maintain and enhance the organization's social media presence.
Essential Functions:
- Engage the community in supporting Circles
- Ensure facilities, food, childcare and other supports are in place for weekly meetings
- Assist in identifying and securing funding
- Prepare reports as required
- Collaborate with Advisory Board to oversee and implement Circles budget as outlined by leadorganization
- Network with appropriate community sectors and groups to recruit both participants and volunteers
Job Requirements
- High School or GED REQUIRED
- Bachelor's Degree or some college credit preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to work independently/with self?direction as well as in one?on?one/group settings
- Comfortable working in diverse communities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
AmeriCorps VISTA Program Details and Benefits:
- Commit to twelve (12) months of full time service (minimum 35 hours/week)
