The Design Assistant Intern position is responsible for assisting in developing a handbag product line representative of the Angela Roi brand with Creative Director, Angela Lee and Angela Roi design advisor, Patrick Pardo (Former Senior Design Diretor of Coach). Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is a must. Candidate must also be independent, extremely organized, detail oriented, and timely. Focus on elevated design aesthetic and quality construction details is necessary.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Working with the Design Team:

Help head designer to manage the design process from concept to production of finished collections.

Translate Designer's (Angela's design) sketches into digital, life-size technical sketches and spec packages

Research seasonal products and colors, fashion trends, source materials, and components

Develop innovative inspired designs and collections while also providing feedback on current collections, for areas of improvement

 

Working with Manufacturing Team:

Issue all designs and styles with specs/swatches/layouts etc. to our domestic team and overseas manufacturer

Supervise corrections to samples throughout production process

Working with Management Team:

 

Understand Angela Roi Customer and brand positioning and work with management team for direction

Present and Review new lines with management and sales team

Present trend reports and projected collections to all internal stakeholders

Identify potential production and quality issues and make recommendations to ensure elevated aesthetic

All design, sampling, resampling, and production deadlines must be met

Track and manage personal workflow

Collaborate with design partners to gain clear direction

Identify opportunities and make suggestions for process improvement

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be proficient in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop, Full Adobe Creative Suite is a plus

Prior experience in planning and design direction

Experience in trend research, trade show attendance

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Superior organizational skills and ability to multi task

Ability to proactively trouble shoot and problem solve with calculated approach

Ability to convey necessary corrections.
