Description:



 



The Deputy Director of the Medicaid Fraud Division (MFD) of the Office of the State Comptroller (OSC) is responsible for assisting the Director in overseeing the prevention, detection and investigation of fraud, abuse and waste of funds expended by New Jersey's Medicaid, FamilyCare and Charity Care programs. The Deputy Director is further responsible for assisting in the oversight of recovery of improperly expended Medicaid funds, review of the quality of care given to Medicaid recipients, the exclusion or termination of providers from the Medicaid program when necessary, and education/outreach to Medicaid stakeholders regarding issues relating to program integrity. 



 



Responsibilities:




  • Assist in oversight of MFD investigations, audits, recovery actions and civil administrative enforcement, as well as education/outreach to Medicaid stakeholders.


* Assist in supervision of a staff of approximately 70 persons, comprised of attorneys, investigators, analysts, auditors, paraprofessionals and support staff.




  • Assist in direction and oversight of the preparation of public reports setting forth the results of investigations and audits. 

  • Support Director in coordination of activities with Federal and State agencies including the Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services in the Department of Human Services and the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Department of Law and Public Safety, Office of the Attorney General.

  • Assist in oversight and enforcement of Third Party Liability payment and recovery contracts.

  • Support follow-up actions necessary to ensure that MFD's recommendations are properly implemented by public and private entities. 


 



Requirements:


* Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.




  • Admission to practice law New Jersey.

  • Ten years of experience as an attorney, at least two years of which have been in a supervisory capacity. 

  • Experience in litigation, civil preferred.

  • Familiarity with audit and investigatory processes.

  • Knowledge of State and Federal health care programs helpful, but not required.

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with managed care plans, helpful, but not required.
