Job Description

Amazon is seeking a tech-savvy Instructional Designer with experience in eLearning development and production, documenting processes, workflows, and graphics-intense procedural instructions which support core business processes.



The team is responsible for developing and maintaining training material for Amazon Transportation and Logistics, worldwide. You will be responsible for the end-to-end creation and publication of training documentation using MadCap Flare.



You are comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. You understand adult learning in addition to being a creative and analytical problem solver with a passion for excellent customer service. You are also willing to roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to get the job done while insisting on the highest standards.

 




  • Be very hands-on; work directly with development teams and stakeholders to produce extraordinary training content and eLearning.

  • Determine the proper blend of learning solution that reinforces hands-on application of the products, enhances the learning transfer, and engages learners.

  • Responsible for creation of overall systems training content as well as production of user- and customer- (carrier-, vendor-) facing content.

  • Develop first-hand experience with the appropriate subject matter (systems or products).

  • Develop application and process training specific to instructional content for self-paced eLearning and web-based training materials.

  • Interpret business process, process narrative, and SDE-produced wiki pages to convey the simplest set of instructions for completing a specific task.

  • Conduct technical and editorial reviews of training content.

  • Write end-user and internal-user knowledge base content and self-service eLearning training materials (conceptual and procedural-based writing) that describe the functionality of internal Transportation tools and systems.

  • Utilize project management skills to define and meet project milestones, communicate issues and risks in a timely manner, and manage customer expectations.



Basic Qualifications




  • Experience with MadCap Flare or similar content management system

  • Experience with self-paced eLearning and web-based training development

  • A minimum of 5 years in a technical writing or training content development role

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Technical Writing, or related field

  • Acute attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment

  • Proven experience designing and delivering customer-facing content under aggressive timelines

  • Can conceptualize technical/functional content into something creative that people actually enjoy consuming

  • Adaptable - ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities and thrive in a complex, ambiguous environment

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and focus on quality

  • Ability to take initiative, be proactive without waiting for direction



Preferred Qualifications




  • Possess ability to learn new technologies, the curiosity to figure out how things work, and a passion for improving the software experience of end-users

  • Obsessed about the customer experience; never settle for good enough, and continually inspire others to do better for the customer

  • Experience with SharePoint 2013

  • Project management

  • Web design or web development a huge bonus

  • Experience with web-authoring tools and multimedia a plus
