Oncology Pharmacist

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervises and coordinates the provision of clinical pharmacy services related to the treatment of oncological disease states by providing support and education to patients, physicians, nurses and other health-care professionals
  • Participates in regularly scheduled rounds and meetings with oncology physicians and nurses to optimize chemotherapy and supportive oncology care
  • Represents pharmacy in appropriate oncology committees and provides data as requested
  • Provides direct supervision of oncology pharmacy technician and participates in teaching of pharmacy students and residents as assigned
  • Is able to function in the role of staff pharmacist as needed
  • Establishing or maintaining patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients
  • Maintaining proper storage and security conditions for drugs
  • Prepacking bulk medicines, filling bottles with prescribed medications, and typing and affixing labels
  • Mixing pharmaceutical preparations, according to written prescriptions
Oncology Pharmacist

Job Requirements

Specific Oncology Pharmacist requirements:
  • Licensure requirements: Must have a valid, open and active California Pharmacist license
  • Education : Pharm D preferred
  • Years of experience: 6 months of recent pharmacy experience within an Oncology setting
  • Background/drug requirements: Ability to successfully complete background check, client health screening criteria and drug screen
