Pharmacy Technician
Job Responsibilities
As a Pharmacy Technician you will be responsible for maintaining productivity and quality standards as well as legal and company compliance and track and triage all coverage determination requests for approvals as well as follow the policies and procedures of the pharmacy.
- Track and triage coverage determination requests submitted from providers and determine if a pharmacist review is required
- Obtain verbal authorizations and request detailed clinical information from prescribers
- Approve coverage determination requests based on defined criteria within the scope of approved protocols or decision trees
- Scanning profiles, correspondence and prescriptions and then filling
- Opening counting, barcoding and profiling incoming packages and mail
- Enter and document coverage determination request decision into the PBM system and notify providers and/or members
- Respond to client inquiries regarding authorization approvals and PBM on-line applications
- Refer coverage determination requests for specialty drugs to delegated vendor or client for processing
- Entering new prescriptions and refills
- Pulling hard copy scripts to return to patient with an appropriate letter if pharmacy is unable to fill the order
- Contact providers for additional information to facilitate coverage determination reviews
- Notify physicians, providers and members of coverage determination request decisions
- Working with ALL Medicare Part D plans and working through the different checks and balance

Specific Clinical Pharmacy Technician requirements:
- Area: Ability to work in the Palo Alto, CA area
- Licensure requirements: Must have valid, open and active California Pharmacy Technician license,
- Education : High School Diploma or equivalent
- Years of experience: 1+ year(s) of recent pharmacy experience within a retail, hospital, or mail order setting
- Schedule: Day Shifts
- Length of Assignment: Temporary ongoing
- Pay: DOE
- Background/drug requirements: Ability to complete background check, and drug screen
