Assistant Cook

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assisting the head chef in preparing menus
  • Cleaning and maintenance of the cooking zone
  • Cleaning and maintenance of cooking equipment like pots, pans, refrigerator and ovens
  • Helps in training the kitchen support staff
  • Prepares cooking ingredients for use in the dishes
  • Prepares dressings on salads and desserts
  • Ferry pots and pans wherever needed in the kitchen
  • Be aware of safety regulations and implement them in the kitchen
  • Take over the responsibilities of the head chef in his absence

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Ability to take and understand orders implicitly
  • Creativity and innovation in suggesting menus and recipes
  • Clear communication skills
  • Have knowledge about nutrition details of different foods
  • Must be a team player and work in harmony with the other workers in the kitchen
  • Must be physically strong to lift heavy pots and pans
  • A high school diploma
  • A diploma in culinary arts and nutrition
