Assistant Cook
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assisting the head chef in preparing menus
- Cleaning and maintenance of the cooking zone
- Cleaning and maintenance of cooking equipment like pots, pans, refrigerator and ovens
- Helps in training the kitchen support staff
- Prepares cooking ingredients for use in the dishes
- Prepares dressings on salads and desserts
- Ferry pots and pans wherever needed in the kitchen
- Be aware of safety regulations and implement them in the kitchen
- Take over the responsibilities of the head chef in his absence
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Ability to take and understand orders implicitly
- Creativity and innovation in suggesting menus and recipes
- Clear communication skills
- Have knowledge about nutrition details of different foods
- Must be a team player and work in harmony with the other workers in the kitchen
- Must be physically strong to lift heavy pots and pans
- A high school diploma
- A diploma in culinary arts and nutrition
