POSITION SUMMARY// As a Bella Latte barista, you are called to serve guests with love. As a barista, your essential role in the mission is to craft delicious coffee & deliver remarkable hospitality.

In regards to remarkable hospitality, the Barista:

  • Honors each & every guest.
  • Exports a positive & encouraging attitude at all times.
  • Engages customers with eye contact, smiles, & an attitude that says, “I’m glad you are here.” Provides quick, confident, friendly, & personal service.
  • Initiates dialogue & develops rapport with guests by learning their names, favorite drinks, & food items.
  • Communicates customer’s complaints & concerns to ATL or TL.
  • Answers the phone in a friendly manner.
  • Maintains an excellent appearance in dress/hygiene.
  • Maintains a clean workspace, espresso machine, & counter. This cleanliness extends out to the rest of the store’s visual appearance – keeping it clean & neat.
  • Prepares, presents, & delivers the food options well.
  • Sells and serves baked goods, whole bean coffee, & coffee cards to guests. Initiates suggestive selling & sampling of products.
  • Operates the POS system & the cash register with ease & accuracy.
  • Makes efficient use of “down” times to get daily/weekly/monthly jobs done.
  • Masters opening & closing jobs.
  • Once finished with assisting one guest, they help other baristas with orders.
  • Knows & follows company policies & procedures.
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events
  • Fulfills any additional duties the ATL, TL, or Director assigns.

In regards to delicious coffee, the Barista:

  • Produces incredible beverages for guests (lattes, pourovers, & other espresso-based drinks). Maintains the highest level of standards in all preparations – provides top quality espresso shots at all times.
  • Adheres to all company recipes & measurements.
  • Produces superior product presentation.
  • Is skilled in working the espresso machine, grinders, blenders, & other equipment.
  • Is responsible for educating guests about our coffees, teas, & food items.
  • Attends & engages in training sessions, team meetings, one-2-one meetings, evaluations, coffee classes, & other scheduled events.
  • Makes effort to improve job skills, knowledge & education (initiative)

In regards to the bella team, the Barista:

  • Communicates w/ team members & management to solve problems & improve quality & service.
  • Does what needs to be done w/ out being asked.
  • Contributes to a positive work environment.
  • Respects other team members and management by being on time for every shift & finding coverage for shifts they can’t work. Maintains consistent attendance.
  • Follows all cash management policies & procedures to ensure accountability of cash funds.
  • Maintain a positive moral & professional attitude.
  • Recognizes alarms or changes in barista morale & performance & communicates those changes to management.
  • Acts with integrity & honesty to promote the culture, values, & mission of Bella.
