Do you have a job interview coming up at Verizon? That's awesome! If you want to prepare for the big day, practice answering common job interview questions by grabbing a friend or family member and doing a mock interview. This way, you'll have your answers ready and feel more confident during the real interview.

If you're interviewing at Verizon, it's most likely for a customer service representative position, which means they'll ask questions related to customer service, communication and sales skills.

1) Why do you want to work at Verizon?

A great way to prove to the interviewers that you want to work for Verizon specifically is to do research on the company. Also, be able to explain how your experiences qualify you and why you admire Verizon.

"I want to work for Verizon because you are an inclusive team of diverse people who give back to the community like providing technology to underprivileged schools and leaving a small footprint on the environment. I would love to be a part of a team that provides great customer service and works hard for a better tomorrow."

2) What value can you bring to the company?

Employers will want to know what makes you stand out from the other people who applied to the position. This is your time to show off your skills and strengths--this is your time to shine!

"I would benefit the company because I have strong communication skills and have a background in sales. These experiences will allow me to provide an exceptional guest experience. In addition, I'm passionate about making a positive impact on the community, and based on the research I've done, it's evident that Verizon also values giving back."

3) How have you help calm an angry customer during a heated situation?

People who work in customer service have to handle situations where customers are upset. By asking this question, the interviewers are trying to determine if you can effectively and calmly deal with conflict.

"At a previous job, a customer came into the store angry because the product they had bought broke within the first week. The customer used loud profanity, but instead of reacting harshly, I politely apologized and asked her what had happened. After she explained, I was able to reimburse her with a brand new version of the product and she walked away satisfied."

4) What do you like most about customer service?

Again, the employers will be trying to see if you not only are skilled at working with people but if you also are passionate about it. Highlight specific aspects of customer service that you enjoy.

"One of my favorite aspects of customer service is listening to people and meeting their needs. I already have a knack for listening so that part of customer service came easily. Also, getting to serve other people and watch them walk away happy is very fulfilling for me."

5) Sell this product to me.

The customer service representative position will not only involve helping customers, it will include selling products as well. This means you will want to bring you A game to the interview and be prepared to sell something. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

  • Build a relationship with the customer
  • Appeal to the customer's emotions
  • Explain how the product will bring value to the customer's life
  • Emphasize that you want the best for them
