Do you have a job interview at Old Navy soon? That's exciting! One way to prepare for the big day is to sit down with a friend or family member and practice common job interview questions by doing mock interviews. By perfecting your answers, you'll feel more ready to conquer the real interview.
If you're applying for a position at Old Navy, you'll more than likely be competing for a sales associate position. This means the interviewers will probably ask you questions about your customer service skills and why you want to work in retail. Here are some examples of interview questions:
1) Why do you want to work here?
Employers will want to know whether you're passionate about their company or whether you're just looking for a paycheck. This is an opportunity to explain why you want to work for Old Navy and show off the research you've done on the company--remember to be specific.
"Working for Old Navy would be more than just a paycheck for me. I want to work here because you seem to value making your products accessible and affordable, which I admire. Also, you seem to promote equal opportunities and hard work among your employees."
2) Do you prefer to work alone or in a team?
If you get hired at Old Navy, you'll be working with a team of other sales associates to provide excellent customer service. Employers will try to determine if you work well with other people as a team player. Respond to this question by highlighting an experience where you succeeded in a group setting.
"I prefer to be in a team because I work well with other people and enjoy being challenged by others to maximize my skills. For example, I worked with a team of employees at Dunkin Donuts, and together we ran the store efficiently and provided great customer service."
3) Do you have any experience in retail?
They may want to know if you have any experience working in retail already or if they'll have to train you. Be honest about your current skills but emphasize your ability to learn quickly.
"I don't have experience working in retail, but I'm familiar with the skills it requires. Also, I'm a fast learner and will try my best to pick it up quickly."
4) Describe a time where you went above and beyond for someone.
Because providing excellent customer service is one of Old Navy's core values, interviewers will be interested in how you serve other people. Explain a situation where you went above and beyond to meet a customer's needs.
"During a shift at Dunkin Donuts, a customer accidentally dumped her coffee onto the floor. Not only did I clean up the mess, I also gave the woman another coffee and a free doughnut to make sure she walked away happy."
5) How can you benefit our company?
When answering this question, highlight your passion for working hard and meeting goals. Remember that employers sometimes look to hire people who they can eventually promote to higher positions within the company.
"I can benefit Old Navy because I work well with others and always give every task my best shot. Also, I like working toward goals and hope to take advantage of the opportunities that your company offers by serving as a store manager one day."
