As a Behavioral Health Technician, the position will be working actively and cooperatively with treatment team while striving to maintain a healthy, safe and clean environment for clients, working to reinforce a recovery model of therapy, openly communicating with staff and assist in client treatment planning and assisting clients to negotiate other social/human service systems as needed.

A qualified candidate will hold a valid Nebraska driver’s license, employment is subject to DMV record approval, and must be a minimum age, 21. Shifts for this opening are typically 8 hour shifts, occurring two to three times per week, often between the hours of 5:00 PM- 1:00 AM. Understanding of sociology, psychology, counseling or related disciplines preferred. Basic skills to facilitate client interactions and involvement in living environment. Must be able to interact with clients with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Must be available to work during non-traditional hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Help foster and maintain a welcoming, trauma informed and safe environment for clients
  2. Project a professional demeanor and be alert to client conditions
  3. Possess knowledge of 12-step recovery philosophy
  4. Demonstrate knowledge, awareness and ability to implement agency policies and procedures
  5. Abide by federal confidentiality and HIPAA regulations
  6. Adhere to the agency’s organizational code of ethic
  7. Complete client intakes and provide initial orientation to program and residential facility
  8. Apply and enforce agency emergency/evacuation procedures to maintain client safety
  9. Exhibit effective communication skills to facilitate and reinforce positive communication between clients
  10. Administer drug screen/alcohol use testing as per agency guidelines
  11. Supervise clients and complete 'rounds' to help maintain client compliance with program rules
  12. Facilitate and reinforce positive communication between clients in the program
  13. Respond to crisis situations with clients. Notify key staff immediately after stabilization of situation.
  14. Interact with and support primary counselor at each facility
  15. Attend monthly All Staff meetings
  16. Be knowledgeable of therapeutic and clinical concerns for clients and carry out objectives set forth by agency staff
  17. Maintain professional interaction with clients respecting therapeutic boundaries
  18. Demonstrate positive attitude towards clients, staff and agency
  19. Accurately document observations and be able to identify significant events
  20. Participate in any other assigned duties to fulfill objectives set by the Board of Directors as deemed necessary by the Executive Director
