About this job

As the Senior Instrumentation Engineer of a new aircraft, you will be a part of innovative engineers leading the efforts for various key aspects critical for development, including instrumentation design, implementation, and troubleshooting of ground test articles and flight test vehicles. You will be responsible for contributing to both the design and execution of various systems while representing the company while working with external suppliers. We’re looking for someone with 5+years of applicable experience and candidates who can effectively contribute in a highly collaborative environment are encouraged to apply. Duties & Responsibilities: Support data acquisition development and develop instrumentation processes as needed. Setup and operation of the ground based Command & Control and Telemetry systems Provide engineering and technical support as part of the test team. Design and complete detailed systems for new ground-based telemetry system. Documenting test article installation, configuration, and integration requirements for the flight test vehicle or ground test rig instrumentation utilizing standard design programs Ensuring instrumentation is properly installed and calibrated Designing and developing instrumentation systems for research and development laboratories and flight testing Designing and developing flight test instrumentation and data acquisition systems and equations Diligently work with external suppliers on various tasks, including coordination for equipment, and represent the company during these interactions. Actively participate in group meetings and communicate progress and details of work with various team members and stakeholders. Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in flight or ground test instrumentation engineering Highly experienced and previous experience setting up various instrumentation systems including data acquisition systems and individual instrumentation sensors. Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM Degree) Experience with engineering programming languages Ability to work effectively within small teams Experience in selection, integration, calibration, and implementation of a wide range of sensors for aircraft and/or rotorcraft. Experience solving complex problems across multiple systems Effective and high-level engineering technical knowledge to effectively communicate with external suppliers. Ability to work in highly dynamic, research and development environment. Outstanding written and oral communications skills. Bonus Skills: Unmanned aircraft flight test experience Electric Propulsion flight test experience Experience using IADS for instrumentation implementation and troubleshooting Developing UAV command and control systems Mechanical and Electrical Design system experience. Type: Contract to hire Hourly Range: $57-$80/hr (DOE)
