As the Aquatic Coordinator, you will be responsible for the direct supervision, control and safety of members and participants during swim lessons, recreational and lap swimming.
SEASONAL AND YEAR ROUND POSITIONS ARE AVAILABLE!
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must hold a current YMCA of the USA or American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
- High levels of responsibility and maturity
- Good communications skills, both written and verbal
- High level of interpersonal relationship skills
- Basic knowledge of pool chemistry and maintenance is preferred
Hours: 10-20 hours weekly, evening and weekend hours during school year, daytime hours available in summer.
Rate of Pay: $14.76/hour plus a free individual membership to the Countryside YMCA!
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise Lifeguards and YASAs to ensure they are complying with their job functions and providing excellent member service.
- Oversee lifeguards for proper attire and positioning
- Vigilance; proper scanning and zone coverage
- Swim testing and bracelet procedure ensuring proper parental supervision rule enforcement
- Assist with new staff interviews, orientation and performance evaluations for lifeguards and YASA
- Address open shifts on the Lifeguard/YASA monthly schedule
- Assist with monthly in-service/emergency procedure trainings for the staff
RISK MANAGEMENT
Responsible for maintaining accurate records in the following areas
- Chemical readings and pool chemistry adjustments for each pool
- Incident/Accident reporting
- Member service complaints/concerns
- Staff discipline issues
Expected Certifications and Training– within 90 days:
- YMCA Lifeguard v6 Certification (Includes ASHI BLS, First Aid, O2 Admin)
- Child Abuse Recognition and Prevention Training (online)
- Harassment at the Y Training (online)
- Aquatic Department Orientation – within first week of employment
