Cost Accountant

We are looking for a diligent Cost Accountant to join our team in ARCHBOLD, Ohio. This role involves collecting, tracking, and correcting the company's financial and product cost records, with a focus on maintaining the integrity of cost information and communicating cost/profit details in a user-friendly manner. The successful candidate will also play a key role in coordinating the year-end physical inventory process and handling various financial accounting functions.

Responsibilities:
• Capture and classify cost data to determine the cost associated with products/product lines, projects, or departments
• Compare actual costs to historical or projected costs and report on variance
• Update material, labor, and overhead standard costs
• Provide cost-related data in support of business decisions or for use in financial reporting
• Coordinate year-end physical counts with plant personnel and external auditors
• Determine job and product profitability by verification and input of material, labor, overhead, freight, commission, and miscellaneous cost into the cost system
• Accumulate and verify data needed for month-end journal entries related to inventory and product costing
• Generate various monthly reports utilizing Excel and Cognos Impromptu query applications
• Complete various profitability and rate analysis studies as required
• Generate month-end labor and production journals
• Cross-train in accounts payable functions

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Cost Accounting role or a similar position

• Proficiency in ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning systems

• Demonstrated expertise in Cost Accounting and Cost Analysis

• Strong skills in Data Analysis, with the ability to interpret complex financial data

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
