Transportation and Logistics Specialist

Job Summary

Administers the efficient transportation of customer and company equipment via both internal and external trucking resources. Serves as the centralized contact for receiving, scheduling, and dispatching all transportation. Supports the management of the company’s fleet of vehicles and trailers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

-Schedules company drivers and third-party trucking resources to ensure timely movement of equipment

-Communicates accurate pickup/delivery dates and details with internal and external stakeholders

-Accurately posts charges for services provided. Reviews charges from any external trucking resources.

-Maintain all filing and records for the transportation department

-Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local transport and vehicle regulations, reporting and

permitting processes

-Facilitate communication and engagement with the company’s roster of drivers

-Maintain and audit all records and coordination for the company’s fleet of vehicles

-Register and title all vehicles for the company in the proper jurisdiction

-Manage the registration renewal process, obtain replacement plates and registrations as needed.

-Manages lifecycle of transport equipment, aids in determination of fleet needs and required capabilities

-Analyzes data and reports for continuous improvement opportunities within the department

-Maintain confidentiality of internal and external information

Position Qualifications

-Bachelor degree required

-2+ year of experience with transportation administration preferred

-Understanding of delivery logistics and regulatory delivery practices

-Ability to use standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Internet functions

-General understanding of mechanical & technical terms.

-Knowledge of general bookkeeping concepts and office procedures

-Experience communicating effectively verbally over the phone and in person, as well as in writing

-A positive attitude with desire to be a team player and provide leadership within the department
