Job Description

The social worker, under the supervision of an MSW, LCSW-BACS is responsible for assessing the material and emotional needs of the students referred by the St. Charles Parish School system and providing them counseling, educational and referral services. This position requires specialized knowledge of the principles of Social Work counseling and the evidenced based principles of standardized treatment. This position also requires proven interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assess student needs and assist the St. Charles School System Individual Educational Plan (IEP) team.
  2. Provide direct counseling and referral services, including but not limited to advocating for services, doing research where necessary, helping to broker services and empowering the student in all these activities.
  3. Manages the service plan in consultation with the IEP team.
  4. Conducts individual and group psycho therapy for students in the school environment.
  5. Ongoing consultation with supervisor, school personnel, and parents to the overall scope and direction of students' needs and progress.
  6. Monitors behavior improvement and is responsible for ongoing progress reporting.
  7. Prepares and maintains records on each student.
  8. Submits reports as required, both qualitative and quantitative.
  9. Develops professional skills through meaningful supervision, in-service training and continuing education seminars.
  10. Is available for consultation during normal school hours.
  11. Field work required as all services are provided in the school setting.
  12. All duties as assigned by my supervisor.

Qualifications: LMSW or LCSW and in good standing with respective licensing board.
