Facility Systems Technician Job Summary During normal operations, the Facility Systems Technician is the first to respond to all building related trouble calls, assess all issues, identify appropriate resources needed for problem resolution, and oversee repairs. During abnormal operating conditions, the Facility Systems Technician will monitor and operate the building systems manually or via the Building Automation Systems (BAS) to ensure proper operation and best performance. Responsibilities Job Responsibilities: 1. Provides excellent customer service by listening to the customer’s concerns and communicating with the customer before, during, and after the work is done. 2. Must be self-motivated and prioritize work orders daily. 3. Identify and correct malfunctions of the Building Automation Systems. 4. Promptly respond to calls pertaining to building or building system failures and investigate to determine the root cause of the reported issue. Make appropriate repairs or identify and contact appropriate resources to do so. 5. Performs regularly scheduled preventive maintenance work on equipment. 6. Ensure the cognizant building occupants are updated and informed as to the status of their reported issue during the repair process up to and through complete resolution. 7. Ensure all work is properly documented in the department work management system “CMS”. 8. Monitor building systems performance and note trends indicating preventive action should take place prior to equipment failure (ex: identifying a need to change air filters before they fail). 9. Identify building systems that are underperforming and suggest changes/upgrades to systems to improve performance and energy efficiency. 10. Must have basic computer skills. Checking and answering emails daily is required. 11. Provides support to the other trades within the District. 12. Other duties as assigned. 13. This position is classified as essential personnel and as such, may be required to work nights and/or weekends on an on-call basis. Follows University safety procedures and makes a positive contribution to the safety culture Minimum Qualifications High School graduate or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and four years experience in electronic and/or pneumatic control systems. Preferences Preferences: This work requires physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, or similar activities. Recurring lifting and carrying of moderately heavy items up to 100 pounds and above-average agility and dexterity with the ability to use hand and power tools may be required. The ability to hold, grasp, and manipulate small parts, speak clearly and effectively, and listen to and understand information and ideas as presented verbally and on paper may also be required.
