As a Sr. Manager of Fleet Maintenance, you will work out of our Bloomington, MN office to support the Sr. Director of Fleet to maintain and update the Fleet Maintenance processes, develop future bench strength for the company and be responsible for various performance improvements and cost control projects. The Senior Manager Fleet Maintenance and Operations is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the entire enterprise company fleet, which includes a combination of 3rd party vendor leased equipment and company owned vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  • Training field leaders in best practices for managing and repairing fleet.
  • Managing 3rd party vendors and negotiate pricing for repairs, rentals and fueling of the company’s fleet. This includes company run and DSD locations and may span across a multi-state geographic area in support of company fleet and reefer trailer operations.
  • Identifying and bringing new technology to the fleet, streamlining operations, and improving the safety of the trucks and drivers.
  • Driving best-in-class fleet operations and operational processes.
  • Providing leadership and direction to implement standardization; ensuring consistent best practices are in place ultimately driving excellence in execution for customer service, safety, and costs.
  • Sharing the responsibility for financial impact, reliability, and vehicle and MHE safety performance.
  • Bringing analysis and will work with Field Sales, plant managers, and DSD leadership team in creating and executing action plans to meet these KPI’s.
  • Enhancing fleet, trailer and MHE operational efficiencies and promote the enforcement of safety policies.
  • Ensuring new equipment is strategically placed in the field to maximize lease life cycles. Interacts directly with all levels of sales management and other key departmental resources.
  • Managing Contract and lease negotiations and vendor management of contracts up to $50 million annually.
  • Provides Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting to the field sales leadership teams and assisting with ensuring that corporate goals and objectives are met.
  • Managing the development of baselines and performance standards in support of logistics/supply chain and business units service to the customers, refining and/or reengineering the processes as business conditions and environment changes.
  • Providing training to supplement the field sales, plant and DC leadership teams as needed.
  • Monitoring process compliance in targeted areas, managing repair campaigns, identifying, and promoting system improvements, and managing the accident repair process for the fleet.
  • Understanding, learning, and applying new technology into company equipment and processes aligned to long-term strategic vision.
  • Creating standard operating procedures and conducts other process improvement projects that require the use of low charts, Gantt Charts, and other quality management tools. Will provide input on KPI development and support in monitoring the financial performance of the fleet.
  • Assisting the field sales leadership team with timely Service Provider training needed because of vendor replacements and to meet the training needs of current Service Providers.
  • Serving as an implementation and compliance agent for execution of relationship with service providers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.
  • 10+ years of directly related work experience within fleet management or maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Windows 7 (Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook).
  • Understanding of DOT compliance laws/regulations to include state-level regulation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Organization skills.
  • Ability to adjust work direction within shifting Priorities.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Solid fleet management knowledge.
  • A thorough understanding of fleet operations.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate contracts.
