Scope of Position


The Research and Development lead will be responsible for all products under my clients manufactured in Cincinnati, Ohio. Responsibilities include recipe/brand maintenance, cost savings initiatives, and new product development. In addition, the lead will be the subject matter expert in Fats and Oils chemistry and processing.The individual must possess strong technical knowledge of fats and oils and strong laboratory and pilot plant practices.

This is a hands-on position, in which the individual will help to manage cross-functional teams to improve existing products, help drive cost-saving alternatives, and develop new products. The research scientist position develops products and processes that facilitate the growth of sales and profits of the brand by meeting performance, timing, and financial hurdles.


Responsibilities

  • Identify and lead productivity initiatives related to products and processes within the brand
  • Support ingredient and supplier validations as needed
  • Develops new products as requested by Marketing or other cross-functional team members that meet consumer expectations, cost, product claims, and timing goals with manager guidance.
  • Manages multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Help in developing strategies to evaluate current products and research new technology to develop superior products
  • Oversee product stability and shelf-life testing
  • Help the team identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop the necessary product specifications, including formula cards, material specifications, and processing conditions.
  • Leads the implementation of these products in the plant or contract packer.
  • Strong lab and pilot plant practices.
  • Understanding and mastery of Pilot plant processes and operation
  • Understanding and mastery of the culinary processes and tests.
  • Works with the analytical lead to create/implement new analytical measures for the new products.
  • Acts as a Resource for operations, marketing, regulatory and legal
  • Develops and performs in-house training on all S&O products and operations aspects.

Qualifications


  • Bachelors degree in Fats and Oils Chemistry or related field
  • 10-15 years of experience in the Fats and Oils field
