Position Profile: Our cooks are responsible for the day-to-day meal preparation and nutritional needs of the clients in our Old Orchard Beach long term residential facility.

Schedule: Full time (32 hours per week). Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday. 9:00am - 5:00pm OR 10:00am - 6:00pm.

Qualifications Required: A minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent. A valid Maine state driver’s license is required, a registered and stickered vehicle is a plus. A minimum of 1 year of institutional cooking experience preferred. SERVE Safe certified highly desired.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Train residents to prepare a weekly meal menu and healthy meals
• Train residents in all proper sanitary and safety requirements of a kitchen
• Follow all state and federal food safety regulations
• Control and log temperatures for all equipment
• Stay within established budget for the food service
• Monitor and provide for the dietary needs of the clients
• Control inventory and food cost
• Obtain necessary supplies for the kitchen, including weekly grocery shopping
• Attend all program staff meetings and appropriate trainings
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical demands and work environment: Freedom of movement on a regular basis, operate kitchen equipment, normal exposure to full service kitchen environment, ability to lift up to 50lbs, physical activity requires walking, twisting, bending, standing and lifting for long periods of time.

Compensation: Compensation for this position ranges from $20.00 - $22.00, based on experience.
