SKF Specialty Balls Colebrook, manufactures precision bearing balls for Aerospace and Automotive industries. SKF Specialty Balls works closely with customers to develop customer solutions for their applications. This SKF Site is located in Winsted, CT. Training for the Machine Operator will be provided during first shift (7 AM - 3 PM). Once Training has been completed, this position will be expected to work 2nd shift (3 PM - 1PM)

Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:

  • Process product to specifications, including cleaning and weigh/count, and to schedules provided.
  • Load/unload and operate lap machines and perform adjustments.
  • Maintain oil levels, cut rates, pressures, feeds and speeds.
  • Pump tanks and change lap slurries.
  • Perform in-process inspections, including ball checks and other dimensional measurements.
  • Report processing information clearly and accurately on routers and process log sheets.
  • Perform assigned repairs and Preventive Maintenance.
  • Ensure applicable inspection equipment is in calibration before use.
  • Plot results on control charts when required.
  • Maintain items in Tooling Control Program.
  • Maintain cleaning media and equipment.
  • Identify, segregate, and initiate Discrepancy Reports for nonconforming product.
  • Contact supervision immediately to report equipment problems.
  • Ensure lot traceability.
  • Participate in cross training.
  • Read new and revised specifications when mandated.
  • Perform any and all tasks assigned by Supervisor/Management.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Varied postures –
    • sitting, standing in general, for extended periods of time thru the day
    • leaning forward, turning side to side
  • Transports product from one area to another.
  • Use of Hand Carts – pushing.
  • Use of Hoist - pulling.
  • Walking, pushing, carrying, or lifting up to max. 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Standing generally all day.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing process.
  • Ability to work 2nd shift (M-F, 3pm-11pm).
  • Flexibility with work hours during training period (M-F, 7am-3pm).
