Quad is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for our plant in The Rock, Georgia. The Maintenance Mechanic troubleshoots repairs and maintains mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components of production equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments. This position will visually inspect and listen to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions and keep presses operational. This individual plays an essential role in helping the plant provide high-quality products and efficient service to our customers by minimizing operational downtime. The position is a 12-hour shift, 7 to 7 on a rotational 3-4 day work week (Including day and night shifts). The wage range for this position is $24 - $35 / hour depending on experience.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Perform mechanical preventive maintenance procedures and repairs on web offset printing presses, finishing (bindery), and auxiliary equipment.
- Troubleshooting and repairing precision machinery and auxiliary equipment utilizing blueprints, schematics, manufacturer specifications, and manuals.
- Perform all work efficiently with an understanding of the urgency of downtime.
- Emphasize proactive measures to minimize reactive maintenance.
- Maintain and repair components on systems such as bearings, gear clutches, couplings, belted and shafted drives, gearboxes, etc.
- May perform basic welding and mechanical tasks.
Qualifications
- Three years of related experience in an industrial maintenance setting within the printing industry is preferred but will consider all qualified candidates.
- Working knowledge of precision test and calibration equipment to perform preventive maintenance.
- Thorough understanding of components and systems bearings, clutches, gears, belted and shafted drives, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to perform math functions, understand and follow instructions, troubleshoot effectively, and respond quickly to solve equipment malfunctions.
- The ability to follow safety instructions while performing tasks and effectively communicate with Press Operators, crew members, and management is necessary.
- Flexibility to work a 12-hour rotating schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, and work on-call as needed is required.
- Must provide own set of tools and be able to safely operate both hand and power tools.
